This Is What Silence meant for Leonardo da Vinci

“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence.” — Leonardo da Vinci

Indeed. It is not about verbal silence. Leonardo da Vinci was talking about a type of mental silence that increases human power — your capacity to process information and be creative at the same time, which ultimately leads to mastery. That is to say, you can come up with ideas and turn them into something; a work of art or a useful material project (a building, an app, or a business).

The silence Leonardo talked about is a new dimension of awareness that allows you to be still within. Your frantic internal world of compulsive thoughts is absent in the light of your conscious awareness. If you are not troubled by compulsive thoughts or negative emotions, you can be creative. But how are you going to attain that inner state of serenity and laser-beam focus? That’s the question! 😊 If you don’t have it, you can’t be genuinely inventive.

And if you possess the capacity to focus, you can do whatever you want without feeling frustrated — anything you do comes effortlessly to you, which is a joyful thing for every human being. Why do you think Leonardo said that the noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding?

That joy trumps everything else; the pleasure you experience is superior to any egoic kind of sensuality. Not even lust can be compared to a mental state of utter serenity.
